Sermon Notes – January 5, 2025

Date: January 5, 2025
Theme: “The Sovereignty of God”

Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 17: 1-9
Messenger: Rev. Darren McKoy

Points:

  • No matter what happens to us, it is all in the plans and design of God.
  • Life is unpredictable but God remains sovereign.
  • We walk by faith and not by sight! We must be able to trust the word of God regardless of what we are going through. Even if we don’t like what the word says.
  • The Lord commanded ravens to feed Elijah in a time of severe drought. God can provide for us using extraordinary methods.
  • Elijah did as God said, no questions asked. Obedience is important!
  • When your obedience and patience are being tested, remember who God is and what He has done!
  • If it seems that God’s provisions have dried up (or are drying up) or that He has decided to take away what he has always been providing for you, it doesn’t mean that He will stop providing! It means He wants to take you somewhere new. (1 Kings 17:7-9)
  • God will never be slack with His promises. What He requires is obedience.
  • Obedience may be challenging but walk by faith and not sight as God will bring us into a new place which He has prepared for us!
  • Recap points:
    • Walk by faith and not by sight
    • When your obedience and patience are being tested, remember who God is and what He has done!
    • Life is unpredictable but God remains sovereign!

Obedience may be challenging but God promise in His word that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Let us continue to trust and obey His word
