Points:
- Mother’s have power
- Pharaoh became fearful of the growth of the nation of Israel so he decreed that all male children should be killed
- Jochebed gave birth to Moses and was determined to protect him from Pharoah
- Jochebed was a woman of faith
Things Jochebed did:
- She cared for Moses
- She demonstrated courage in the face of oppression (by defying Pharoah’s decree)
- She used the place determined for destruction and by faith made it a safe place and haven for her son (Male babies were to be drowned in the River Nile)
- Hebrews 11:23
- She was creative as a mother. She made a waterproof basket out of limited resources
- As a mother, she was observant and wise
- She placed Moses in a spot where she KNEW Pharaohs daughter visited frequently
- She nurtured her son (secretly)
- She was willing to be used by God to save a nation
- She trusted God’s work and leading
- She was a selfless mother and gave up her son in order to fulfil God’s purpose
