Sermon Notes – May 11, 2025

Points:

• Mother’s have power 
• Pharaoh became fearful of the growth of the nation of Israel so he decreed that all male children should be killed
• Jochebed gave birth to Moses and was determined to protect him from Pharoah
• Jochebed was a woman of faith

Things Jochebed did:

• She cared for Moses
  • She demonstrated courage in the face of oppression (by defying Pharoah’s decree)
• She used the place determined for destruction and by faith made it a safe place and haven for her son (Male babies were to be drowned in the River Nile)
  • Hebrews 11:23
• She was creative as a mother. She made a waterproof basket out of limited resources
• As a mother, she was observant and wise
  • She placed Moses in a spot where she KNEW Pharaohs daughter visited frequently
• She nurtured her son (secretly)
• She was willing to be used by God to save a nation
• She trusted God’s work and leading
• She was a selfless mother and gave up her son in order to fulfil God’s purpose
