- The Introduction (Verse 1)
- How did Peter introduce himself?
- He wanted people to remember who he was and how he has transformed his life
- A servant an apostle; a “bond slave” – at the beck and call of the master with no agenda of his own
- Apostles go where they are sent
- How did Peter introduce his audience?
- Likeminded persons with a faith similar to his
- “To those” – inclusivity; to ALL of those;
- How did Peter introduce himself?
- The Salutation (Verse 2)
- “Grace and peace be yours in abundance…”
- You don’t deserve it (grace) and you can’t finish it (abundance)!
- Jesus signed a peace treaty between us and God
- “Grace and peace be yours in abundance…”
- The Exhortation (Verse 3-9)
- Talks about the work of our salvation – dependent on God
- Talks about the walk of our salvation – dependent on us
- Add to your faith (vs 5-7)
- There is work to do!
- Anyone without these virtues is going to be ineffective, unproductive, nearsighted and blind ( vs 9)
